Questions and answers about Roma, ticket offers, ticket price reductions, overseas fans, AS Roma forums and more (continues on next page...) |
(11) Are ticket prices the same for Serie A, TIM Cup and UEFA Champions League matches? |
A: There are differences, TIM Cup tickets are the cheapest while UEFA CL tickets are slightly more expensive than Serie A tickets. Ticket marketplace websites never pass on reduced Roma ticket prices, as those who resell there assume that prospective buyers are ignorant, when in fact this is rarely the case. AS Roma offer a 30% discount for women, under 12's and over 65's. Only romalazio.co.uk take these discounts into account when negotiating AS Roma ticket prices with customers. |
(12) Wearing colours in Rome. Yes or no? |
A: No. NO if you're a Man U fan. Wear Roma shirts on match day when you're on the way to the stadium. |
(13) I've seen the videos of police brutality in the Stadio Olimpico when Manchester United played against Roma in April 2007. They cracked open the heads of at least 20 fans. Is this kind of behaviour common at football matches in Rome? Or anywhere else in Italy? |
A: Unfortunately, yes. There are many police forces in Italy, and when they get together for any reason at all anywhere on the peninsula, expect serious injury if you get in their way. The animals responsible (Polizia, Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri) will get away with it and life in Italy will go on as normal. |
Advice: If you have any other questions, we're sure that the wonderful Maha, who lives here in Italy, will be more than happy to help! |

Hotel Dama is a three star, family owned hotel which we highly recommend. Very comfortable rooms, internet reception, all mod cons, open breakfast across the street and friendly staff. |
Ana B on Via Cernaia, a couple of minutes walk from Piazza della Repubblica (metro to the Vatican, all the historic sites), is a simple accommodation facility priced somewhere between what one might expect to pay for a good hostel or average B&B in Rome. Ana B is already proving very popular on Hostelbookers and will have more rooms in 2011. |

(1) Scholars Lounge - (Piazza Venezia) |
Slap bang in the middle of the tourist track, so for however long one has endured living in Rome, or however many hundreds of people one knows here, the Scholar's guarantee is that the entire pub will always be full of complete strangers. Extended in 2010, the new annex resembles something out of a Sergio Leone flick when it's empty. Easy to imagine bar stools being hurled head high on a Saturday night too far. Pricey beers and very pleasant staff make the Scholars Lounge a passable watering hole, but there's no edge to the place and don't expect an ounce of atmosphere either. There used to be an all female all blonde crew behind the bar but times have changed. Plenty of screens showing too many sports simultaneously spoil the Scholar's rating. / 5/10 |

(2) The Old Trafford - (Cipro) |
Strange name for a Roma pub but you just never know what to expect when heading out for a drink in town these days. Framed prints of a hunting scene and the Beatles in the main room make Italians feel 10% English, while red telephone boxes adorn the toilet doors. Last time we were in, the owner was dressed head to toe in Roma merchandise. A couple of decent draught Pilsners, malt beer, and the all round football theme make a trip worthwhile (The Old Trafford pub is very close to the Vatican Museums), but make sure you go when it's open; most evenings, Sundays after lunch, or to be precise - whenever Roma are playing. / 7/10 |

(5) Flann O'Brien - (Via Nazionale) |
Sterile Italian pub on the way down to the Roman forum from Termini, frequented by lost or exhausted tourists and no one, but no one else. Within seconds of walking through the door, bolshy Italians wave menus in your face and attempt to lead you to a shit table. 'No mate, pint. At the bar.' is something they'll never understand. / 0/10 |
